Zeke was our first Vizsla and our best friend.  Intellegent, beautiful, personable, loving, and loyal are all words to describe him.  On August 4th he started to show signs of illness, and by August 6th he was gone.  After an emergency sonogram, Zeke was diagnosed with a grapefruit sized tumor in his abdomen that was thought to be Hemangiosarcoma.  Immediately the doctors went into surgery to remove the tumor, but they found that it was too far progressed.  The tumor had ruptured and was attached to four major organs.  Four vets worked on him in surgery, but Zeke didn't make it out.  The cancer was determined to be an aggressive, fast growing, indifferentiated tumor.  The vet believes that the cancer had grown very rapidly -  in just two weeks.  "Zeke must have been a rock" she told us.   She does hundreds of these types of surgeries a year, and never has she seen a dog, as sick as he was, actually pulling on lead (let alone walking)  into the clinic.  Zeke was indeed a rock!  He was tough as nails, but sweet and loving too.  He never wanted to show signs of weakness, and he always strived to please us.  He was our constant shadow...going with and following us everywhere.

He is so very sorely missed.  There is a true emptiness in our home without him here.  He was laid to rest under an old oak tree on our property, where we visit him often.  We hope you enjoy the pictures and information we share about him here.  It is through these pictures that we remember and honor his fun character, and his short but unforgettable time here with us.

Zeke completed his Junior Hunter with ease.

Zeke was amazing at Agility.  He was fast with a high level of concentration and determination when running a course.  His favorite obstacles were jumps and tunnels.  Although we never competed in agility trials, Zeke had great times running the agility courses in the weekday evening classes we took for 4 years.

Zeke was an alpha dog, with a strong personality.  He was very intelligent, with an understanding of a wide vocabulary.  He was a true 'velcro vizsla' and always loved to be around people.  Zeke was eager to please and always looked to us for direction.  He was a great guard dog with a big bark.  Some of Zeke's favorite things were birds, agility, retrieving, showing off his tricks, posing for photographs, and sunbathing!  He loved admiring his best K9 friend, Blaze.  He was our first Vizsla, and brought a ton of love to our home!  We're thankful to him for introducing us to this incredible breed to which we are now so dedicated!
